Before you start on your mission towards chihuahua puppy training, make sure that you have also prepared your self in thinking that training such breed is not all going to be easy. Yes, they may be a small breed of dogs, but do not be deceived because such dogs have an energy level exactly the opposite of their size. Here are some of the other things you may want to know about Chihuahua puppy training if you are serious about teaching your pet dog the puppy tricks it needs:

 1. Be Prepared For The Training

First of all; know that it can be very difficult for a dog owner to teach a Chihuahua puppy. They have the propensity to always play and have fun so making them follow the tricks for obedience might not work fast for them. What is more, their attention span is known to be short-lived, that is why it will really require the owner to have lots of patience and dedication to be able to teach his chihuahua.

2.  Start Chihuahua Puppy Training While They Are Young

Start training your dog while he is young. That way, it will be much easier for you and your dog. It has been proven that Chihuahua puppy training at the puppy stage is always an advantage for the owner. They can easily get used to what their trainer is teaching them,  such as obedience skills. Likewise, they will learn everything they need to know about potty training.  That way, they will already know even at an early age where they are supposed to pee or poop.

 3. During Chihuahua Puppy Training Give Them Rewards As Treats

Also, make it a habit to give rewards to your dogs when training them. This practice has been proven to be beneficial for both the dog and the owner so make sure you make the most use out of this strategy. This will help you develop their short-lived attention span not to mention help you make your Chihuahua puppy training more enjoyable and in the end, more fruitful. Giving your dogs some treats will surely be helpful not only in getting their attention but in making them obey your commands at the same time.

One piece of advice though; never give your dog a treat during the puppy training if he does not deserve it. You should only reward your Chihuahua if he followed a command you ordered or perhaps he was able to do a trick for you. But then there is no need for you to punish your Chihuahua as well. These dogs are known for being very sensitive and so punishing them for their lack of attention might just do more harm than good in your Chihuahua puppy training.
