Know that when house training Chihuahuas you will encounter fewer problems once your chihuahua is trained. Know that if you develop a routine towards correcting or instructing your chihuahua and developing a good bond towards your chi, it will make the house training a complete success.
House training chihuahuas can be easy if you start with a few simple commands. When you announce commands, try to use a word commands especially to Chihuahua puppies like “Come”, “Sit” and “Stay”. A change in the command can confuse the puppies but as they grow older, they may realize that your orders are one and the same. Make your chihuahua understand, especially if the Chihuahua is new in your home, little by little everyday that you are the master of the house and it is a pet through the training process. Always praise them when they do well and reward them with treats to let them understand that you are pleased with their performance. Now I say pet but mean this in the most loving manner. But a view as anything else may compromise your training and your position as the alpha leader.

When house training chihuahuas remember that they can be corrected. Undesirable traits like biting can be testing especially if it causes injury towards you or other people and pets. Saying the word/s “Bad” or “Bad Dog”, together with the changing the tone of voice and hand gestures repeatedly after it makes the wrong move, will make the Chihuahua realize its mistake. Like any other dogs it is loyal and would dearly want to please you. Remember to be consistent in your choice of words. Another way is to place them in their pen, a crate or a small area with fences that the Chihuahua can’t jump out of, when you are trying to control its aggression and to not cause any further harm.
House training chihuahuas isn’t generally very difficult. Chihuahuas can be very good at potty training. Most Chihuahuas are clean in nature especially in their sleeping area which makes it easier for you to start potty training. Since the Chihuahua identifies its place of sleep, as an owner try to direct them to the place where they can potty also. The place can be on a litter box or on top of a newspaper when you are living in an apartment. Use your chosen commands and consistently do this until it develops a routine. Stay with your chihuahua, which may be long and hard at first, and acknowledge them after they do their business to promote your bonding. Observe your Chihuahua before it starts urinating, when it looks side to side in search for a place to pee, carry it and place it on top of the litter box. Be patient ‘cause there is no easy way out when you are house training chihuahuas.
In the case of two or more chihuahuas in the same house, house training chihuahuas may get a little more tricky, remember to make your commands consistent and the same when you address them, however you can add their name together with the command like “Lily-No” little by little for them to get accustomed to their name. If you have an older Chihuahua which you have already trained, it may make house training a bit easier. The house trained Chihuahua will most likely teach and be imitated by a young puppy or untrained Chihuahua, since they are familiar to each other and are most likely talk in the same language.
House training Chihuahuas needn’t be difficult but it does require consistency and perseverance. It’s not a complex process so follow the advise I give and your Chihuahua will be as well behaved as my own. I do hope it’s not as cheeky though.
